The law on the freedom to choose one’s professional future


Introduced by the law of 5 September 2018 for the freedom to choose one's professional future, the gender equality index is a key mechanism for promoting pay equity. This tool assesses the situation of women and men within companies based on several indicators, such as pay gaps, promotions, increases and parity among the highest-paid employees. Companies with more than 50 employees are required to calculate their index and publish it each year. If the results are not satisfactory, corrective measures must be implemented. The aim of this index is to encourage companies to take concrete steps to reduce pay inequalities between men and women and promote better representation of women in positions of responsibility. This initiative reinforces the commitment to gender equality in the workplace.
