The law on bioethics: extension of medically assisted procreation

The law on bioethics in France represents a major step forward in authorizing medically assisted procreation (MAP) for all women, eliminating restrictions based on sexual orientation or marital status. It promotes equal access to MAP, giving single women and female couples the opportunity to have children by these medical means. This measure promotes equal reproductive rights and recognises the diversity of contemporary family structures. In addition to MAP, the bioethics legislation provides a framework for the use of genetic technologies while strengthening the protection of genetic data. It reflects an ethical and balanced approach to taking account of scientific advances while respecting the rights and dignity of individuals, including women's access to reproductive healthcare.
