Implementation of the Constitutional Principle of equality between men and women in the Civil Code, the Introductory Law, commercial legislation, and the Code of Civil Procedure, as well as partial modernization of provisions related to family law

The concept of the patriarchal family has been abolished and replaced by the family of equality. Additionally, the institution of dowry has been abolished, and it is stipulated that both spouses are obligated to contribute, according to their abilities, to addressing the needs of the family.

It has been established that:

A woman retains her family name after marriage, and this is mandatory.

Prospective spouses have the option to choose, before marriage, the surname of their children, which can be either the surname of one of the spouses or both.

The age of 18 is the legal age of adulthood for both genders, setting the minimum age for marriage for both sexes.
